Setting Up Threshold-Based Opening Counts Using Door Sensors

Setting Up Threshold-Based Opening Counts Using Door Sensors

Objective: Learn how to configure your door sensors to monitor the number of times a door is opened within a specific timeframe, set limits, and trigger alarms to maintain efficiency and safety.

Step 1: Configuring Opening Count Monitoring

  1. Access the Door Sensor Settings:

    • Navigate to the Location View or Sensor View and select the specific door sensor you want to monitor.

  2. Set the Timeframe for Monitoring:

    • Define the Time Auto Clear Duration in minutes. This is the time window during which the system will track door openings and reset the counter after the specified duration.

    • Example: Set the duration to 60 minutes to monitor openings within a one-hour window.

Step 2: Setting Opening Count Thresholds for Alarms

  1. Set the Open Count Limit:

    • Input the maximum number of times the door can be opened within the defined timeframe before triggering an alarm.

    • Example: If the Open Count Limit is set to 10, an alarm will trigger after 10 door openings within the monitoring window.

  2. Set the Clear Open Count Limit (Optional):

    • Configure an additional threshold for clearing the alarm automatically based on further door activity.

    • Example: If the Clear Open Count Limit is set to 5, the alarm will clear after an additional 5 door openings following the initial alarm.

  3. Save Your Settings:

    • Ensure all thresholds and durations are saved to activate the monitoring system.

Step 3: Understanding Alarm Behavior and Counter Resets

  1. Alarm Trigger:

    • The system generates an alarm when the number of door openings exceeds the configured Open Count Limit within the defined timeframe.

  2. Alarm Clearance:

    • Manual Clearance: Staff can clear the alarm manually in the dashboard, which also resets the counter to zero.

    • Automatic Clearance: If configured, the alarm clears automatically based on:

      • The end of the monitoring duration (Time Auto Clear Duration) or

      • The door being opened an additional number of times (Clear Open Count Limit).

  3. Counter Reset:

    • After the alarm clears, the counter resets to zero, either manually or automatically, and begins monitoring again for the next timeframe.

Step 4: Viewing and Managing Alerts

  1. Monitor Alerts in Your Dashboard:

    • View active alarms and opening count data in the Location View or Sensor View.

    • Alerts are categorized by the threshold limits you’ve set, helping you prioritize responses.

  2. Notification Options:

    • Configure notifications to be alerted immediately when opening count limits are exceeded. Choose from phone or email notifications, depending on your preferences.

Step 5: Testing Your Setup (Optional)

To ensure your alarm settings are working as expected:

  1. Open the door repeatedly to meet the configured Open Count Limit.

  2. Confirm that the alarm triggers and clears according to the thresholds you’ve set.

Conclusion

By configuring threshold-based opening counts, you can monitor door usage, prevent excessive activity, and ensure efficient operations. With customizable count limits, durations, and alarm clearance options, ConnectedFresh door sensors provide the flexibility to suit your specific needs.
