Setting Up Your Milesight EM300 Leak Detection Sensor: A Step-by-Step Guide

Setting Up Your Milesight EM300 Leak Detection Sensor: A Step-by-Step Guide

Welcome to the world of IoT and ConnectedFresh! This article will guide you through the process of setting up your EM300 Leak Detection Sensor, which runs on the LoRaWAN network. With just a few simple steps, you'll be up and running in no time. Let's get set up!

Unpacking Your Box

Your sensor box will come with the following components:
  • 1x EM300 Sensor

  • 2x Wall Mounting Kits

  • 2x Screw Caps

  • 1x Yellow Cable Probe

Mounting Your Sensor

Gather Materials:
Use the provided 2 zip ties and 2 3M adhesive tags. Attach the sensor antenna to your new sensor.

Choose the Mounting Location:
Select a spot inside the fridge where the sensor can be mounted without obstructing any shelves or drawers. Ideally, choose a location that is central to get an accurate temperature reading of the entire fridge. Avoid placing the sensor too close to the cooling element, as this might give inaccurate temperature readings.

Prepare the Surface:
Clean the chosen spot inside the fridge. The surface should be dry and free of grease or dirt to ensure the tape adheres properly.

Preparing the Sensor:
Put one zip tie through each mounting hole in the sensor and through given 3M tags, then tighten the zip tie.

Mount the Sensor:
Peel off the protective layer of the 3M tag. Carefully place the sensor onto the chosen spot in the fridge, pressing firmly for a few seconds to ensure a strong bond. Cut any additional zip tie slag if needed.

Activating Your Sensor

Here's how to turn on your EM300 Leak Detection sensor:

  1. Note: The LED indicator and power button are inside the device.

  2. Turn on: Press and hold the button for more than 3 seconds until the LED indication is on

Select the installation location to detect the leakage. The sensing cable can be wrapped around pipes, routed along to walls or placed on the floors. Ensure that the surfaces of the installation location are clean and free of debris, dirt, adhesive residues, water droplets, and other contaminants.

  • Note: 1) Installation location should be away from foot traffic, sharp objects and areas where heavy items rolling, dropping on the cable.

  • 2) Keep the cable away from air-conditioning outlet or moist places to avoid error alarm report.

  1. Install the sensing cable at the designated installation locations.

    • Install cable to floors/walls: attach the sensing cable to the installation location without agap and fix it tightly with cable clips. Do not fix the cable with glue or metal which may affect the detection sensitivity:

  • Install cable to pipes: wrap the sensing cable around the pipe and fix it tightly with cableties. When installing, the cable can’t be twined or accumulated together:

  • Note: to ensure best LoRaWAN® communication, keep the EM300-ZLD device away from metal objects and obstacles

Install the sensor:

  1. Attach EM300 to the wall and mark the two holes on the wall. The connecting line of two holes must be a horizontal line. Drill the holes according to the marks and screw the wall plugs into the wall.

  2. Mount the EM300 to the wall via mounting screws:

  1. Cover the mounting screws with screw caps.

      7.  For leak detection sensor, install the probe/cable to the place where water may leak:
