Setting Up Your Milesight WS301 Magnetic Contact Switch (Small Door Sensor) : A Step-by-Step Guide

Welcome to the world of IoT and ConnectedFresh! This article will guide you through the process of setting up your Milesight WS301 Magnetic Contact Switch (Small Door Sensor). With just a few simple steps, you'll be up and running in no time. Let's get set up!

Unpacking Your Box

Your small door sensor box will come with the following components:

  • 1x door sensor (2 pcs):

Setting up the Door Sensor

Step 1: Mounting Your Sensor

Reference this article for more details
  1. Choose the Mounting Location: Select a spot inside the fridge where the sensor can be mounted without obstructing any shelves or drawers. Ideally, choose a location that is central to get an accurate temperature reading of the entire fridge. Avoid placing the sensor too close to the cooling element, as this might give inaccurate temperature readings.
  2. Prepare the Surface: Clean the chosen spot inside the fridge. The surface should be dry and free of grease or dirt to ensure the tape adheres properly.
  3. Preparing the Sensor: Put one zip tie through each mounting hole in the sensor and through given 3M tags, then tighten the zip tie.
  4. Mount the Sensor: Peel off the protective layer of the 3M tag. Carefully place the sensor onto the chosen spot in the fridge, pressing firmly for a few seconds to ensure a strong bond. Cut any additional zip tie slag if needed.

Step 2: Mount the Sensor on the flat surfaces using 3M tapes

  • The small door sensor can be mounted on the door frame or door itself, depending on your preference. Clean the surface you prepare to tape on and let it dry.

  • Peel attached 3M double-sided mounting tape to secure the sensor in place.

  • Make sure the big sensor part is taped on top of the door frame (fixed part) and the magnet part is taped on the door (portable part). For double doors, put each part on each door.

    • Important Note: Please align the sensor and magnet part as close as possible and make sure the distance between sensor and magnet is less than 15mm

Step 3: Monitor Door Status

The door sensor will send door open/close status updates to the gateway. You can monitor the status of your doors in real-time using the ConnectedFresh dashboard (my.connectedfresh.com).
